Visit of Nice & Villa Rothschild

Discover the old district of Nice known as “Vieux-Nice”. It is very Italian and bears witness to Nice’s long past as a part of Italy. A walking tour starting on Cours Saleya will enable you to discover the famous cut flower market area, a maze of narrow streets full of little shops and bistros, Baroque churches and mansions. The castle on top of this high rock hill overlooking Nice old town and the port has been gone since 1706, is a great place to visit. There are cool walks in the shade of the trees, great views out over Nice and the Mediterranean, a large grassy park, playground, Roman ruins and a waterfall.
After the guided tour, you will have a lunch in a celebrated restaurant located in the Old town.
The afternoon, we suggest that you take the coach to go the celebrated Villa Rothschild. Built in the Italian Renaissance style on the orders of the Baroness Ephrussi, the Foundation is set in an eleven-acre garden of pure enchantment. The Foundation’s contents prolong the delight : furniture from the middle ages and the French and Italian Renaissance; numerous tapestries and paintings, collection of porcelain, ceiling painted by Tiepolo and Pellegrini… a real treasure.
